What if equal opportunities insisted on the annual inheritance?
Now that neoliberalism has hollowed out the social system to the skeleton, a controversial and unconventional measure is being put in place to jump-start equitable redistribution: An inheritance lottery is being installed. Responsible for implementing this bizarre inheritance law reform is the Labor Market Service, which now manages inheritances in addition to jobs.
Two more or less principled customer advisors try to maintain bureaucratic order between a demanding unemployment assistance recipient and an heiress who has come to grief. In a furious exchange of blows, the conflicts come to a head and the situation gets increasingly out of control. The waiting hall of the AMS becomes a classicistic gateway to hell: food truck & bouldering wall on one side and children of the jobseekers stacked up for lack of space on the other ...
With JEEPS, Nora Abdel-Maksoud creates a radical experimental arrangement for fair redistribution and equal opportunities. In fast-paced and hilarious dialogues, she develops an intelligent satire on our class society, holding the burning glass on the gaping crack between poverty risk and inheritance bonus.
