Sifrash story: A story that tries to challenge the narrative through everyday documentation
Martha Tadesse is a freelance humanitarian photographer & photojournalist who uses her passion and craft to tell stories of social justice, and representative images of Ethiopia and the continent of Africa, at large. She began honing her craft in 2011. Currently, she consults with a variety of local and international NGOs, in addition to building her personal portfolio by traveling to different parts of the world.
Within the exchange of cultural project proposal of this exhibition prioritizes questioning the aspect of transplantation of culturalization within the artistical production here and much less about legitimacy but through the gaze of Martha's work contextualize and extend with some artist from Ethiopia living or working in Vienna. Expanding possibilities that re-frame art production in these issues within another condition as migrants also bringing active possibilities re-encountering in the diaspora.
Martha’s photo exhibition tries to challenge the stereotype about people in rural Ethiopia while celebrating their everyday life. It shows that human beings are all connected through hope, love and resilience just in different social, economic and political situations. It is the photographer’s hope that audience finds the connection one way or another.

Culture X Change fulfils the role of art and music as a starting point for non-European artistic cooperation. The project serves as a door opener and transmission belt to question existing stereotypes about the „Other“. The contributions take a critical look at, among other, the freedom of art and the cultural creators in the respective countries. In addition to concerts, other art forms such as film, literature, theatre or fine art will be included in the programme in the future.
