In their exhibition project, artistsNour Sokhon and Joanna Zabielska explore personal stories of migration and memories of social gatherings. In an interplay of video, sculpture, and installation, visitors are invited to discover multi-layered narratives.
Nour Sokhon's residency in Vienna is a cooperation between philomena+ and kulturen in bewegung and is supportet by ADA - Austrian Development Agency and City of Vienna | Culture.
The exhibition by Nour Sokhon and Joanna Zabielska is part of the philomena+ annual programme, which is financially supported by the City of Vienna | Department of Cultural Affairs, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport and the District Administration of Leopoldstadt.

Performance ‘Design of the Anonymous’ by Joanna Zabielska

In collaboration with a performer, the artist and choreographer Joanna Zabielska brings movement to the installation ‘Design of the Anonymous’ presented in the philomena+ project space. The sculptural elements made of blue-and-red-checkered handkerchiefs, which are visually reminiscent of both market stalls and pieces of luggage, become the medium for personal stories and utopian ideas.
Artist Talk with Nour Sokhon and Joanna Zabielska

On this evening, the artists Nour Sokhon and Joanna Zabielska will talk to curator Aline Lenzhofer about participatory research, artistic collaboration and interdisciplinary work.
Together they will shed light on thematic parallels in their work. After the artist talk at philomena+, the event continues at Flucc, which is only a 5-minute walk away, for the sound performance by Nour Sokhon.
Performance ‘Beirut Birds’ by Nour Sokhon

In ‘Beirut Birds’, multidisciplinary artist and composer Nour Sokhon presents an audiovisual experience that draws on personal stories of migration, displacement and the cyclical crises in Lebanon. In a live performance, she combines interview fragments and object sounds with experimental sounds, supplemented by projections of cityscapes of Beirut and bird migrations across the Mediterranean.
The events are organised as part of a collaboration between the Salam Music Festival and philomena+.
