Since 2010, one of the exhibitions at FOTOGALERIE WIEN has been dedicated to a young, up-and-coming artist as a solo exhibition. This series of exhibitions, SOLO, functions as a platform and springboard for artists who are just starting out in their careers but already have an extensive body of work that should be presented to a wider audience.

We have entered the 21st century and are in a new danger zone. What role do politics, art and sex play – and how do they interrupt the mutation of capital? This question is less banal than it seems, since its signifiers have been replaced by morality, ‘artivism’ and gender as a liberal offer of identity.

Anahita Asadifar's art adheres to the actual question and illuminates the dilemmas of its reformulation. She explores the ‘here and now’ through new geographical connections, generational ruptures and precise artistic updates beyond algorithmic fatality and empty discourse.
