Sakina Teyna has long been no stranger to the Kurdish cultural scene. Kurdish music was taboo in Turkey for a long time because of the language ban. This was one of the reasons why Sakina had to leave her homeland. She has lived in Vienna since 2006 and performs in various constellations with her friends from Iran, Spain and Turkey under "Sakina & Friends". Sakina preserves the tradition of women's songs from Kurdistan and interprets them in her very own, touching way.
