An Afrofuturistic musical spectacle of a special kind! In a mountainous region of Burundi, escaped forced laborers from a coltan mine join together to form an anti-colonialist hacker collective. Using old electronic waste, they create a community to overthrow the authoritarian regime that exploits people and nature. It's about building a more sustainable, just world!
Saul Williams and Anisia Uzeyman's queer Afrofuturist musical oscillates between present and past, dream and reality, female and male, memory and vision of the future, thus also connecting anti-colonial struggles with ecofeminist positions.
The VOLXkino is the only traveling cinema of its kind and has long become a fixed point in the cultural summer: an extraordinary film program in extraordinary (cinema) locations. The successful concept of the VOLXkino traveling open-air cinema has remained virtually unchanged since its beginnings in 1990. The films are shown wherever there is space, at nightfall, in places untypical for cinemas - in parks, courtyards, public squares and markets, on the Gürtel or on the outskirts of the city. From June to September and always with FREE ADMISSION!
