Concert 'Colombia & Mexico, Two Peoples, One Root'

This project draws on my experiences of living in Mexico since 2012, working with Mexican and Colombian musicians, and drawing on and experimenting with connected musical genealogies. With a repertoire of mostly traditional songs plus a couple of original ones, I want to show how the music of these two countries is linked through the sharing of songs and rhythms such as cumbia, bambuco, trova yucateca, columbias, ranchera, etc. The lineup is a quintet consisting of voice, guitars, violin, drums, percussion, tuba, and baritone horn.
