Building an oral archive using podcast formats

What is remembered and what is forgotten? And who decides? Our understanding of history is shaped by many social factors, which often reflect existing power relations. In the process, many histories are rewritten or left out. Oral history offers the opportunity to let people speak whose stories would otherwise be forgotten. In this way, their individual narrative and language can be preserved. This workshop demonstrates the possibilities of preserving history through oral history methods in conjunction with podcast formats. A conversation with a former guest worker will be presented as an example. The concept of memory can be critically reflected and expanded in this way.
The format was developed as part of the mentoring programme Academy of Unlearning by kulturen in bewegung.
