FemFriday #8 Raja Kumari / Rescheduled

European Premiere: Raja Kumari
Support: Zion Flex

Indian-American rapper, singer, songwriter, and dancer Raja Kumari is a force of nature. She’s a fearless, charismatic personality and natural-born storyteller whose mission is to create art that blends her Indian roots with her American upbringing. Her music is a sonic bridge between East and West that fuses the rhythms she absorbed as a trained classical Indian dancer with her love for hip-hop.

Through singles MuteCity Slums (featuring Mumbai rapper Divine), Believe In You, and her latest I Did It, as well as her debut EP, The Come Up (the cover features an image of Kumari with her head draped in both a gold tikka and an American flag), Kumari announces that this is the new face of America. “I want my fans to feel one hundred percent seen and to have a safe space to be themselves,” she says. “Because those were the only desires I had as a child.”

Zion Flex is a singer-songwriter from Bristol. Heavily influenced by hip hop, trip hop and bass music. She returns with new music from her latest release Queen of Herz created in Austria.

FemFriday, presented by kulturen in bewegung and Weltmuseum Wien, is a concert series putting a spotlight on exceptional female musicians. We want to conquer the man-dominated stages of the music business with excellent female musicians and powerful performances.
