Workshop
with Fia Neises & Liv Schellander

Audio description is one way of making visual material accessible to blind and visually impaired people. In this process, a sighted person describes their perception of the situation. When it comes to creating an experience through dance, the limitations of description are quickly reached. Blind and visually impaired audiences want to experience theatre in three dimensions. Rather than a compromise, they want to receive the work of art with their own style of perception. That is why Fia Neises and Liv Schellander are offering this workshop to explore together how stage art can be created when the audience is thought of diversely.
The workshop leaders have already worked on performances with aesthetic accessibility. They will bring examples from their practice. Fia Neises will share her methods of creating multisensory art and provide impulses from her own practice as a performer and choreographer and as a member of the blind and visually impaired community. In addition, Liv Schellander will offer ways of not forgetting the body. After that, everyone can stimulate all their senses by experiencing themselves.
There will be a theoretical input on the political classification of self-descriptions. Then there will be space for guided experimentation, failure and new beginnings.
