Since the Islamic revolution in 1979, women have been banned from singing in public in Iran. This abhorrent ban forms the occasion for this collaboration across the disciplines. Texts of poetic and political origin served as models for compositions and conceptual pieces. A polyphony of freedom songs is intoned with new activist vigour.
