The aid organisation SOS Balkanroute turns five! 5 years of humanity, defiance, perseverance and resistance at the EU's external borders. Despite all the cruelty, fences, SLAPP complaints from the powerful and chronic injustice...
Great achievements have been made in recent years: from the closure of the horror camp on the minefield in Vucjak (2019), to the rescue of 1500 people after the fire in Camp Lipa (2020), to the uncovering and cancellation of the illegal prison for refugees in Bosnian Nowhere (2023). Without the solidarity of the people in Austria, it would never have been possible to organise 68 aid transports by lorry. Without the numerous supporters, the ongoing supply of refugees at the EU's external border could not be maintained today.
What is needed is what volunteers have been doing for years: Collecting clothes, loading lorries, making donations - all this enables helpers on the ground to do what the EU is failing to do.
This milestone will be celebrated together with outstanding acts such as the Honigdachs Bande (Kreiml & Samurai, Monobrother, etc.), BAITS, Martin Spengler & die foischn Wiener, the house punk band Büroklammer, and many more. Between the performances there will be speeches and interludes from the Omas gegen Rechts, Roman Gregory, Amnesty Austria, city councillor Peter Hacker and many more.
Don't look away - join the party!
